LeydenJar builds production hall ‘PlantOne’ at Strijp-T

Finally the news can officially be made public: LeydenJar will establish itself as the second tenant in building TX at Strijp-T.

Yesterday the ceremonial signing took place and today, among others, BNR Nieuwsradio, the Financieel Dagblad and the Volkskrant are paying attention to the arrival of this promising high-tech company.

LeydenJar builds first factory for batteries that can store much more energy. LeydenJar, a young Dutch company that develops batteries that can store much more energy, will build its first factory in Eindhoven. In 2026 the first components are expected to roll off the production line there.

LeydenJar has been working since its founding in 2016 on a silicon anode (a part of the battery). This material can store much more energy than the graphite that has been used so far. As a result, these batteries can store 50 to 70 percent more energy than conventional lithium-ion batteries.

Due to the higher energy density, for example electric cars can travel much further on a single battery charge, or the battery can be made smaller for the same distance, causing the weight of the car to decrease, as do the costs. Initially the company focuses on concerns that produce batteries for consumer electronics, such as smartphones, portable electronics and drones. At a later stage deliveries must also be made to the automotive industry.
